Welcome to the Mid-Atlantic College Basketball Officials Association (MACBOA) Web Site

The Mid-Atlantic College Basketball Officials Association welcomes you to the MACBOA web site. The site was developed to provide information to our members, schools and administrators, and prospective members. We want the web site to become a useful tool for anyone involved in the sport of basketball and basketball officiating to become better educated about officiating and the men and women who serve our schools.

MACBOA has a membership of approximately 225 men and women officials. Our membership consist of men and women who work Divisions I, II and III basketball. We pride our Association on providing quality and professional service.

MACBOA has just completed a banner year during the 2002-2003 college basketball season. Over 75% of the MACBOA Staff receive assignments to officiate DI, II, III, and NAIA postseason tournaments ("The Big Dance"). Officials also represented MACBOA in the Maryland State Men’s and Women's Maryland State Tournament, Men’s and Women’s Regional Tournament, and the National Junior College Championships. Our rapport with the institutions that we serve has never been better. We work with some of the most talented student-athletes, coaches and administrators in the country.

There are several factors, which have contributed to the success of MACBOA:

  • MACBOA provides members with access to up-to-date web site information, videotapes, and other resources.

  • MACBOA sponsors an annual Fall Clinic where college conference administrators, head coaches, respected college officials, and MACBOA representatives speak to officials about the personal and technical aspects of officiating.

  • Through the Time Out Referee School, MACBOA provides officials with intensive meetings, guest speakers, on court officiating experience in a tournament setting, critique sessions and on court instruction from respected clinicians and select MACBOA staff members.

  • MACBOA encourages members to attend regional and national basketball officiating camps and clinics during the summer and fall to improve their expertise and skill.

  • MACBOA seeks to foster a true spirit of sportsmanship and mutual understanding on the part of those associated with collegiate athletics - coaches, administrators, student-athletes, and officials alike - since their is a common responsibility of conducting athletic contests on a high plane.
